Overview .This is the true story of an older American woman’s tumultuously explosive and wildly passionate love affair with a much younger Iraqi interpreter. Shortly after arriving in the United States he seduced Pamela, weaving an intricate web of deception, betrayal, and adultery. Blind-sighted by this young man’s unbelievably charismatic and magnetically convincing persona and his highly-charged sexuality, she fell crazy in love with him.
This tender, loving relationship unravels when she discovered he was actually still married. Because she dared to defy him, a Shi’a Muslim, the relationship culminates in a shocking twist of events.
Although this ‘devout’ Muslim man served the Coalition Forces for more than four years, he desecrated his marriage vows, disgraced his faith, and forever impacted Pamela’s life.
Pamela exposes her vulnerability with unexpected candor and unabashed honesty. She holds nothing back when expressing the love she felt for Rashid and how his betrayal affected her both physically and emotionally. She felt compelled to warn women of the challenges they face when becoming romantically involved with a man of Islamic culture. To many Muslim men, having sex with a non-Muslim woman is the biggest affront to western society---the ultimate jihad.
For her protection, she uses the pen name Pamela Carter. .

Disclaimer: I write this review as a faithful and practicing Muslim with deep knowledge of Islam and MuslimsI bought this book and read it with interest to learn the views of a non-Muslim about Islam and Muslims since the title of the books has religious connotations.
The author began the relationship with Rashid and his family with a positive intention with certain expectations. Before the author met with Rashid and his family, she connected Rashid to her memories from her former husband of Armenian/Syrian origin. That gives me as a reader an assumption that the author had different agenda in mind from the beginning of the relationship. It could be the relationship with the family as a whole and reminiscing her love with the Middle Eastern culture or involving Rashid romantically in order to return her support with Rashid and his family. Rashid found the author vulnerable because of her lust and took advantage of her. It is hard to believe the author could not see what was coming due to her nature of intrusiveness and manipulation. I could classify their relationship or not a serious relationship with conflicting expectation.
The author treated Rashid and his family to the utmost humiliation and downgrading. The author portrays Rashid and Afif as street beggars. In chapter eight the author wrote “When I was about to leave I asked if there was anything they needed. Afifa said she needed underwear so I estimated her size and agreed to purchase bras, panties, and other feminine things she needed. Rashid responded also. “You probably can’t help us but our mattress is so thin, only about an inch of foam, and it’s painful to sleep on it.”
The author’s claim is questionable for two reasons. First, this family used to live in Baghdad and Baghdad was one of the most developed cities in the Middle East (I mean before the US invasion) and secondly they were in the United States for a while now and department stores such as Walmart are familiar to them and they can buy what they need since it is basic essentials.
Unannounced and surprise appearance by the author at Rashid’s school or place of work, searching public records on information related to Rashid, over concerns of whether he received his permanent residence and his social security application has been accepted are signs of insecurity and intrusiveness by the author. For Rashid, not forthcoming and sharing this information with the author and keeping her in dilemma is a sign of mistrust and protectiveness. Rashid shared information with the author to the extent that he may gain something from her and keep the relationship going. He told her everything as she likes to hear from him.
I don’t agree with the author that Rashid is a devoted Muslim. Adultery is the second of the seven major sins in Islam. Adultery is very serious matter and has strict rulings in Islam. A devoted Muslim neither commits adultery nor tells lies about it.
There are many misconceptions, myths and generalization about Islam and Muslims in this book. To mention a few of them, the author mentioned “In most Muslim countries, women are forbidden to drive and are cloistered in their homes …” There is only one country in the Islamic world that women are not allowed to drive. That country is Saudi Arabia. However, Saudi Arabia’s prohibition of women driving is not based in Islam and it is customs of the country. Islam believes and encourages that woman can do everything that a man can do without exception. Both men and women have different roles in society and restrictions, whatsoever, Islam doesn’t impose restrictions to limit what women can do and how women can progress in their lives because of their gender. Islam set rules for humanity regardless what the gender of the individual is.
I understand the author referenced Rashid to many of her misconceptions about Islam and Muslims, but, even Rashid has extremely limited knowledge about his religion. For instance, it is not true his assertion that he will not seek treatment for his illness due to the prohibition from Islam during fasting. There are certain situations that Muslims are exempted from fasting. Illness is one of those situations. In Islam necessity rules. For example, if a Muslim female is in labor and the only doctor available is a male doctor, will she allow to see the doctor or will she deny the treatment? All Islamic scholars agree on this situation and many similar situations, necessity rules.
Also, Rashid’s excuse for refusing to perform oral sex on her is not based on prohibitions from Islamic religion on oral sex. He should say simply that he doesn’t want to perform oral sex on her without making reasoning on religious grounds.

Seduction of an Infidel The Ultimate Jihad edition by Pamela Carter Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews
I personally know the author, she is kind, loving, honest and very dedicated to her cause. Unfortunately, there are people out there for their own personal gain. Highly recommend the book.
This is an amazing memoir of an amazingly strong woman who was treated terribly. Anyone who has dated or is thinking of dating a Muslim should read this and at the very least keep this information in mind. Not only did this book give me closure after my own encounter it inspired me to continue in what I know to be true and not to doubt myself. BRAVO to Ms. Carter for her strength in surviving and also for helping the rest of us!!!!
What a story! Everyone, but women especially, should be able to relate to what happened in this relationship that started out so loving and passionate. The chemistry and the attraction between them is obvious and the twists and turns kept me wondering what was going to happen next. A must-read for any woman in a relationship, especially with a man from a different culture. Highly recommend this book.
So many twist & turns! A great love story with an ending you would not believe. I love it been written in Arizona, you feel close to the people. Easy read! Love it!
